THERE IS NO DEGRADATION WITH DIGITAL IMAGES, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES THEY'RE COPIED OR REPRODUCED. INSTEAD OF GRIMY SHOE BOXES, YOUR PRICELESS MEMORIES ARE PRESERVED IN PORTABLE FORMATS WHICH CAN LAST FOR DECADES. STORED ON ONE OF THESE HANDY FORMATS, IN AN EMERGENCY YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY PHOTO HISTORY CAN BE EASILY ACCESSED AND SAVED FROM HARM. WE DIGITIZE ANY VARIETY OF 2" X 2" 35mm SLIDES, ALL SIZES AND VARIETIES OF ALBUMS INCLUDING PHOTO ALBUMS, MEMORY BOOKS AND SCRAPBOOKS. FLAT MEMENTOS SUCH AS CHILDREN'S ARTWORK CAN BE DIGITIZED AS WELL. WE DIGITIZE LETTER SIZE AND EXTENDED LENGTH LEGAL AND MEDICAL DOCUMENTS. WE ALSO DIGITIZE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM DIME-SIZED WALLET PICTURES UP TO LARGE 11" x 17", AS WELL AS PICTURES IN FRAMES UP TO THE SAME MAXIMUM SIZE. FOR LARGER IMAGES SUCH AS PORTRAITS OR WORKS OF ART, WE'LL CAPTURE THEM WITH A PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL CAMERA AND CONVERT THEM TO THE SAME FORMAT AS YOUR OTHER DIGITIZED IMAGES.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY SCANS?

OTHER COMPANIES TAKE WEEKS OR MONTHS, ALONG WITH REQUIRING YOUR PRECIOUS IMAGES TO BE EITHER DROPPED-OFF OR SHIPPED TO VARIOUS FACILITIES ALL OVER THE WORLD. WITH HOME ARCHIVE PHOTO SCANNING SERVICES YOU RECEIVE YOUR SCANS INSTANTLY AT THE CONCLUSION OF YOUR APPOINTMENT. NO WAITING

HOW MANY IMAGES CAN YOU SCAN PER HOUR?

35mm SLIDES WHICH ARE MOUNTED IN CAROUSELS CAN USUALLY BE SCANNED AT A MINIMUM OF 300 IMAGES PER HOUR - OFTEN MORE. LARGE ALBUM PAGES CAN USUALLY BE SCANNED AT A RATE OF 50 SCANS PER HOUR. DOCUMENTS WHICH HAVE BEEN PROPERLY PREPARED - ALL STAPLES, CLIPS AND RUBBER BANDS REMOVED, ARE USUALLY SCANNED AT A MINIMUM OF 1000 PAGES PER HOUR. LOOSE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM STANDARD WALLET SIZE TO 8" x 10" WHICH ARE NOT MOUNTED ON A STIFF SURFACE, HAVE NO EXCESSIVE ADHESIVE ON THE REAR OR MARKED CURLING CAN EASILY BE SCANNED AT A MINIMUM OF 450 PHOTOS PER HOUR. LARGER PHOTOS FALL INTO THE SAME CATEGORY AS ALBUM PAGES.

WHAT FORMAT WILL MY IMAGES BE SCANNED TO?

35mm SLIDES ARE SCANNED TO HIGH QUALITY COMPRESSED JPEG FORMAT. DOCUMENTS ARE SCANNED TO EITHER JPEG, PDF OR SEARCHABLE PDF. PHOTOS AND ALBUM PAGES CAN BE SCANNED EITHER TO JPEG OR UNCOMPRESSED TIFF FORMAT, AT EITHER 600 OR 1200 DPI (DOTS PER INCH).

WHAT KIND OF MEDIA WILL MY IMAGES BE STORED IN?

UNLESS REQUESTED OTHERWISE, WE STORE TO FLASH DRIVES OR PORTABLE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES. FOR CLIENTS WHO WISH US TO DO SO, WE'LL ALSO STORE TO DVD'S.

WILL MY ORIGINAL SLIDES, ALBUMS, DOCUMENTS OR PHOTOS EVER LEAVE MY POSSESSION?

FOR ALL ON-SITE APPOINTMENTS, ABSOLUTELY NOT. BY POPULAR REQUEST, WE ALSO ACCOMMODATE CLIENTS WHO PREFER TO DROP-OFF THEIR IMAGES AT OUR STUDIO, AND WE ENDEAVOR TO SERVICE THEIR NEEDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.

WHAT IF SOME PHOTOS ARE ALREADY DAMAGED OR FADED?

BY REQUEST WE ROUTINELY DO SIMPLE COLOR AND LIGHTING CORRECTION. WE OFFER OFF-SITE PHOTO RESTORATION AS WELL. PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR TECHNICIAN

WHAT IS YOUR MINIMUM NUMBER OF HOURS?

AT DESTINATIONS WITHIN OUR PRIMARY SERVICE REGION, OUR MINIMUM IS TWO HOURS. AT DESTINATIONS IN OUR SECONDARY SERVICE REGIONS, OUR MINIMUM IS FOUR HOURS. SEE OUR PRICING PAGE FOR REGION DESIGNATIONS. SHOULD YOUR SERVICES BE COMPLETED IN LESS TIME THAN THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF HOURS, YOU WILL STILL BE CHARGED FOR THE FULL MINIMUM. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ONCE OUR TECHNICIAN IS ON THE CLOCK, THE ACCRUED TIME IS CONTINUOUS. AS WE'RE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND, OUR SERVICE TIME CANNOT PAUSE BECAUSE YOU MAY BECOME OTHERWISE DISPOSED OR DISTRACTED. IN ORDER TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR TIME WITH OUR TECHNICIAN, WE SUGGEST YOU PLAN AHEAD IN ORDER THAT YOUR APPOINTMENT NOT BE INTERRUPTED. WHAT ABOUT ADDITIONAL HOURS?

AT THE EXPIRATION OF THE MINIMUM HOURS, THERE MAY BE MORE WORK YOU'D LIKE TO DO. YOUR TECHNICIAN MAY ASK IF YOU'D LIKE TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT A LATER DATE OR, SUBJECT TO HIS/HER AVAILABILITY, CONTINUE FORWARD WITH THE EXISTING APPOINTMENT AT THE SAME HOURLY RATE. PARTIAL HOURLY RATES BEYOND THE MINIMUM HOURS ARE CALCULATED AS FOLLOWS:

1 - 15 MINUTES ARE CHARGED AS AN ADDITIONAL QUARTER-HOUR,
16 - 29 MINUTES ARE CHARGED AS AN ADDITIONAL HALF-HOUR,
AND 30 - 60 MINUTES ACCRUE A FULL HOUR FEE.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR EQUIPMENT SET-UP TIME?

NO. OUR SELF-CONTAINED SCANNING STATIONS USUALLY TAKE ONLY ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES TO SET-UP. ALL WE NEED IS A QUIET, WELL-LIT AND WELL-VENTILATED INDOOR AREA, NO LESS THAN 12' BY 10' IN DIAMETER. UNLESS YOU'RE IN A RECOGNIZED BUSINESS STRUCTURE OR COMPLEX WITH DIRECT ACCESS TO YOUR OFFICE BY WORKING ELEVATORS, THE AREA MUST BE IN AN EASILY ACCESSIBLE LOCATION ON THE FIRST FLOOR. LIVING ROOMS AND DENS ARE OFTEN IDEAL. KITCHENS, BEDROOMS AND GARAGES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. WE NEED A WORKING AC POWER OUTLET WITHIN FIFTEEN FEET OF WHERE THE WORKSTATION IS TO BE SET-UP. BECAUSE THIS IS A DETAILED, ARTISAN-LIKE PROCESS AND WE ARE WORKING WITH YOUR PRECIOUS DOCUMENTS, FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY AND UTMOST EFFICIENCY WE REQUIRE THAT YOUNG CHILDREN, AS WELL AS ANY ANIMALS NOT HOUSED IN A CAGE BE BARRED FROM ACCESS TO THE AREA FOR THE DURATION OF THE APPOINTMENT. ONCE SET-UP IS COMPLETE, YOU AND YOUR TECHNICIAN WILL MUTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THE TIME WHEN THE APPOINTMENT BEGINS.

WHAT ABOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGES?

TRAVEL: WITHIN PRIMARY SERVICE REGIONS, NO CHARGE. FOR DESTINATIONS IN SECONDARY SERVICE REGIONS, CHARGES RANGE FROM $100 TO $150, DEPENDING UPON DISTANCE AND ACCESSIBILITY. CHARGES FOR TRAVEL WILL BE DETERMINED AND DISCUSSED WITH YOU PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A HOME ARCHIVE SERVICES APPOINTMENT.

HARDWARE: CLIENTS ARE GIVEN THEIR CHOICE OF ONE STORAGE MEDIUM - A 16GB FLASH DRIVE OR DVD - AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE WITH EACH APPOINTMENT. EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES WILL BE CHARGED AT PREVAILING RATES DEPENDING UPON AMOUNT OF STORAGE AND BRAND.

HOW ARE YOU PAID?

ALL PAYMENTS ARE DUE AND PAYABLE AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH APPOINTMENT, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. HOME ARCHIVE ACCEPTS CASH, PERSONAL CHECKS DRAWN ON LOCAL BANKS ONLY AND DATED FOR THE DAY OF SERVICES RENDERED, AND VALID VISA AND MASTERCARDS. WE DO NOT ACCEPT DISCOVER OR AMEX. IF YOU SCHEDULE MORE THAN ONE APPOINTMENT, ALL CHARGES INCURRED MUST BE PAID AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH APPOINTMENT. STORAGE UNITS (ADDITIONAL FLASH DRIVES, EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES, ETC.) WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

WE REQUEST THAT IF YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST CANCEL, PLEASE DO SO NO LATER THAN TWO BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT, SO WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE YOUR TIME TO SOMEONE ELSE. HALF THE COST OF A TWO-HOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE ADDED TO APPOINTMENTS RESCHEDULED DUE TO CANCELLATION LESS THAN TWO BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO ORIGINAL DATE. APPOINTMENTS RESCHEDULED AS A RESULT OF SECOND CANCELLATION - REGARDLESS OF PERIOD OF TIME PRIOR - WILL BE BILLED AT TWICE THE PREVAILING HOURLY RATE.
